Then & Now
The Hockley Flyover is a large concrete overpast on the A41 in West Birmingham built c1968 not far from Birmingham City Centre. It includes a series of five subway tunnels and a large public space that is underneath the flyover in an area known as Hockley Circus.
Photographs taken by Phyllis Nicklin (copyright, Birmingham University) in 1968 provide a really helpful view of the flyover during its construction and a glimpse of the area in the late 1960s.
